Japanese Wedding in America Saves Money

I recently officiated at a wedding for a Japanese bride and an American groom here in Central Florida. Orlando has always been an international destination with Walt Disney World and countless other attractions. Not to mention the beaches throughout Florida are fantastic.

The Japanese bride’s father is an American and her mother Japanese. Her parents live in Japan. They were a very charming and happy couple. I sensed a very special bond between the bride’s parents. Of course the bride’s father was fluent in Japanese as he lived and worked there.

To my surprise the bride’s father informed me about the massive expense Japanese young couples incur when they endeavor to get married. Apparently Japanese custom requires those getting married to give a gift to everyone attending their wedding. This is a very unusual concept by Western standards.

When I learned of the excessive expense and cultural pressure placed upon Japanese couples when they marry, I immediately thought to officiate Japanese wedding ceremonies. The most recent wedding I did between the Japanese bride and American groom was phenomenal. We used a Japanese translator, who did a lovely job. I emailed the translator the full ceremony and outline weeks beforehand so he could adequately prepare. The ceremony went beautifully and everybody was greatly blessed.

Bringing different cultures together can be very refreshing and invigorating. America truly is the melting pot of the world and is most welcoming to people from everywhere. This is why we have so many outstanding international culinary dishes available to feast upon. Every people and culture have something to offer.

My world travels have taken me to over 50 countries and 6 continents. I love to travel and interact with new people and cultures. It stretches me, teaches me new things, and causes me to grow.

As all newlyweds know, getting married is not cheap. Marriage is big business. Couples therefore should be wise with the allocation of their resources early on and minimize their expenses when getting married. Learn from Japanese couples, who come to America to tie the knot when they are ready to get married.

Tips on How To Make Your Own Wedding Cake

So you love to bake. Your friends and family tell you your specialty is cakes. Before you commit to making your own wedding cake, here are a few tips to consider that will make your creation a big success.

The Victorian love of neo-Gothic colonnaded buildings helped create the style of today’s tiered wedding cakes, and the trend toward elaborate, decorated cakes continues even though there are changes in flavors and colors.

The earliest known wedding cakes were unsweetened loaves of barley or wheat, but later the tradition changed to small, coarse, biscuit cakes and then, in Anglo-Saxon England, to sweetened buns. Later the buns were joined together with icing to form a large cake topped by miniatures and figurines.

Then, much later, the lower part of the cake, a dark, substantial, fruitcake, was called the groom’s cake, while above it a lighter cake with spun sugar and ornaments was known as the bride’s cake.

Multi-tiered cakes are one of the most exciting products in the cake decorating pantheon. The tradition of sharing a cake at weddings has been around for hundreds of years, and today’s weddings still emphasize the importance of a multi-tiered cake.

Many decorators are nervous about putting together their first wedding cake. Some decorators look at all the tiers and decide they couldn’t put one together. After all, no one wants to ruin a cake as important as a wedding cake. But with adequate training, all decorators can decorate wedding cakes.

A multi-tiered cake is a work of both art and architecture, whether it’s two tiers or 20. Whatever the design, support for the upper tiers is crucial.

To begin building the cake, we must have a strong support base. The heavier the cake, the stronger the bottom board must be. Some bakeries stock plywood boards cut into the correct size of the bottom board. If you’re using cardboard circles, staple or glue two or three together.

The bottom board, which will display and transport the cake, should be 4 inches larger than the bottom tier. This will allow room for a 2 inch lace ribbon to encircle the bottom tier. The extra room also will allow easier handling during delivery.

Normally, each tier is two layers high with some type of filling; butter-cream is a popular choice. Fill and ice each tier on a cardboard circle matching its cake size. For example, place an 8 inch cake on an 8 inch circle.

Proper icing is of utmost importance. All the tiers must be the same height, with the top edges straight and even. The sides and top must be smooth and evenly covered, with no cake showing through. Don’t be stingy with the butter-cream, as the cake absorbs some of it as it sits. Too little icing will let the cake show through. These dark shadows are very unattractive, especially in wedding pictures.

For a quick finish on the icing that provides an attractive background with little extra fuss, use a comb. It’s easier to smooth the sides with a comb if you use a turntable to keep a nice, steady motion going. That way, you won’t show many marks of stopping and starting again.

Because many wedding cakes are delivered during the hot months of spring and summer, the type of butter-cream you use is important. If your butter-cream icing is too soft, it may melt or slide off your cake. You may need to adjust the type of butter-cream you use, depending on the weather in which the cake is to be delivered.

Finally, if you do decide to make you own wedding cake, heed one word of advice: practice! You may have to make several practice cakes before you are confident enough to try this for your big day.

When to Mail Invitations

When to Mail Invitations

As with any romantic gesture – timing is everything. The same holds true for mailing your wedding invitations. It’s important to give guests enough time to make plans to be a part of your special day – especially if you’ve decided on a destination wedding.

For a traditional wedding it is best to plan on mailing invitations six weeks before the wedding day. This allows guests ample time to make any necessary travel arrangements, such as reserving a hotel room or taking vacation time from work.

For destination weddings, a good rule of thumb is to send out invitations eight weeks beforehand to allow guests two additional weeks for planning their trip as well as booking flights and rental cars if needed.

If you’re still worried about giving guests enough time to make travel plans, the best way to ease your mind is with a save-the-date card anywhere from six months to a year in advance. (See my blog entry from Feb. 15th for great sites to find stylish and personal save-the-dates.) You may also want to include additional information such as a pamphlet or website with all the pertinent location, itinerary and reservation information for your destination wedding. If your event takes place in a vacation hot spot during a particularly heavy tourist season, letting guests know about your event well in advance may help them book less expensive flights and hotel rooms ahead of time.

The more information you can give guests ahead of time, the better prepared (and more relaxed) they’ll be when taking part in your special day.

Wedding Center Pieces ~ How to Cut Costs

Wedding Candles You can use candles in many ways in a wedding centerpiece. Experiment with them and you’ll have a beautiful centerpiece and save money at the same time.

Getting married is the best day of your life but it is also probably the most expensive. Often couples will put off getting married because of the costs involved or agree to tie the knot once they have saved enough money to do so.

The dress is considered one of the most important aspects of a wedding; however some of the smaller effects can make just as big a statement as the dress its self.

Once the wedding vows have been shared and the guests are ready to sit down and have enjoy wonderful food, they will begin to notice the decorations. They will be admiring the lay out of you wedding table and most importantly the wedding centerpiece.

One of the best ways to save money when deciding on your wedding centrepiece is to have a go at making your own. Keep it simple and elegant and you will be within your budget and will also look stunning.

It is important that you make a mock one a  few weeks before the wedding day so that you are 100% sure that it looks right and you are happy with it. If you are making your own why not ask your friends and family to help out.

Your wedding centrepiece does not have to be flowers. You can try something unusual but keep in mind the time it takes to make and the time you have to do it, the more complicated the wedding centerpiece the longer it will take to create.

You can make you wedding centerpiece as personal as you like. You could even consider providing your guests with the means to actually write down their thoughts and what they loved about the wedding day.

Wedding centerpieces can be extremely costly if you are having them made professionally so make sure you have a look at the resources you have around you and what you could do yourself. If you decide to buy flowers to arrange into a wedding centerpiece, then make sure you buy it from a wholesaler to save money.

Another idea would be to use candles, not only are they romantic but they will look better and better as the day draws in and the evening entertainment begins. Floating candles are one of the safest as they are surrounded by water. You may need to check where your wedding reception is being held to see if they will allow this sort of wedding centerpiece.

Fruit and chocolate are also a great idea as they can be admired to begin with then eaten later on so nothing is wasted, it will also keep the children happy!.

Whether you decide to have your wedding centerpiece made for you or you make it yourself, it is a good idea to allow your self plenty of time to play with ideas before deciding on the perfect wedding centerpiece.

What are Bellataire Diamonds and How do They Differ From Traditional Diamond?

Bellataire Diamonds are some of the most rare diamonds in the world. If you are shopping for a one-of-a-kind diamond, than you may want to consider these special and unique gemstones. The process that creates these diamonds was developed about 12 years ago, and they have become increasingly popular.

While Bellataire Diamonds are considered natural, they have been subjected to a unique process that helps provide their purity and quality. Under proprietary technology developed by General Electric, Bellataire diamonds have undergone what is termed high-pressure, high temperature (HPHT) treatment, that transforms, in a completely natural way, molecular misalignment in the stones themselves. Before treatment, the diamonds are brownish, but after treatment, when the molecules have been realigned, the diamonds become exceptionally pure and white, with a brilliance that may be greater than ordinary diamonds.

The process used for Bellataire Diamonds is different than what is considered to be used for treated or artificial diamonds. Bellataire diamonds receive a grading report from the Gemological Institute of America, which does not issue reports on treated diamonds. Normally, treated diamonds have been irradiated, laser-enhanced, or altered in some way. The Bellataire process is more comparable to polishing and smoothing rough diamonds, as they are being restored to their natural state, before their molecular misalignment.

If you are looking for more fancy or unusual diamond shapes, Belltaire diamonds are often found in unique shapes such as heart-shaped, ovals, and emerald-cuts. Due to their chemical purity, Bellataire diamonds lend themselves more to these shapes than the traditional round shape. These diamonds also tend to be larger gemstones. They are usually available up to 10 carats, so they can easily become showstopping centerpieces that can be worn without additional jewelry.

Bellataire Diamonds are not available from just any jeweler. As rare specialty diamonds, classified as Type IIa, they make up less than 1% of rough stone output. By doing some research online, you will probably find a number of places that care these diamonds across the country. Their pricing is usually similar to more traditional diamonds, and if you comparision shop, you can probably get a favorable deal. Bellataire Diamonds are a unique expression of diamond jewelry. If you love diamonds, you may want to take a look at these specialty gemstones. They may be the ultimate diamond for your jewelry collection, and a piece of jewelry that will give you pleasure for many years to come.

Wedding Day Gifts ~ The Bar is Open

Engraved Gold Plated Cake Server Set

Engraved Gold Plated Cake Server Set

No wedding party is complete without personalized bar ware. Nothing looks classier than the head table of the wedding reception when it’s set with monogramed, personalized bar ware like wine glasses or champagne flutes. The initials of the bride and groom can be engraved beautifully across the glass of the bar ware to make a statement, and at the end of the party each member of the wedding party can take their personalized bar ware home as a keepsake of the special day they were part of. If there is room in the wedding budget, you may consider ordering enough personalized bar ware for each person attending your reception to have their own monogramed, personalized glass. What a memorable wedding favor!

If this is outside your budget, however, you can simply get wine or champagne glasses personalized with the names of each of your wedding party, your wedding date and the names of the bride and groom. Not only can the glasses be used at the wedding reception and during the toasting of the bride and groom, but they become the bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts, as well.

Most personalized bar ware enables the buyer to select the type of lettering used to monogram the glass. There is fancy script fonts, as well as standard text characters, so that you can select the look that best matches the theme of the wedding.

If wine glasses and champagne flutes are not your style, personalized bar ware also includes brandy decanters and beer mugs. Beer mugs are perfect for the casual or outdoor themed wedding. Shot glasses can be personalized as well, and are affordable enough for most wedding couples to give them out as wedding favors to each of their guests.

Other ways to make your bar ware personalized, and as an alternative to lettering, is to select colored or patterned glassware that represents the theme of your wedding. If you’re getting married on Valentine’s Day, you might opt for pink or red tinted glassware with heart stems, for example. You could take the personalization a step further and have your names or initials monogramed on the glass as well! Most personalized bar ware can be found in either glass or crystal, so you can select your preference when placing your order for your champagne, wine, or brandy bar ware.

You can find more ideals that will help you with relieving stress from your wedding day Go to Wedding Favors or she could go to Wedding Gifts To get some great ideals for your wedding like a flagon for the spruce or a Money clip with his name impressed on the front. How to Find the Best Hotel Deals

Choice Hotels® can be found at over 5,000 locations open and under development around the world.

When you are scheduling a honeymoon, vacation or business trip, take a little extra time to search for hotel deals to be able to spend more money on other portions of your trip. Remember that cheap does not always equate to good hotel deals, rather what you are getting for the price you are paying will determine the value of your choice. For example, if the majority of facilities in a certain area book rooms at $100 a night and you can find one for $50 a night, do not be surprised if the towels are pretty worn through or the staff is slow at responding to your needs.

With some hotel deals the free breakfast may be a three-day-old donut and yesterday’s coffee and while price may seem like a good deal, you will get what your pay for.

Many times, hotels with a higher visitor satisfaction rating may offer hotel deals when you stay a certain number of nights or book the room along with airline reservations giving you the opportunity to stay at a more luxurious location for a reduced rate. A great saving for a honeymoon. Having the amenities of a top of the line hotel for middle of the road prices will make those hotel deals that much better.

Keeps Eyes Open For Seasonal Specials~ Frequently, hotel deals are available just before or after a holiday as hotels try to keep their revenue flow regardless of the season. However, if you are booking a room through a holiday, there may be a major price difference on specific days if they occur while an important event is going on.

In a college town, for instance, the few days of the year when the students are coming to town with their parents and the rooms will all be booked, you probably will not be able to find any good hotel deals. The same could be true in a resort area where more travelers are coming in for a holiday or special event. Hotel operators are going to keep their rates as high as the market will bear and hotel deals will be at a premium. You may not even be able to take advantage of special rewards during specific periods, as many places will have black out dates and only a certain number of rooms are available for hotel deals based on your rewards. Once those rooms are gone, the rates will not go down.

The Celebrity Wedding of the Month Maybe

Mr and Mrs Nayar are finally on honeymoon. It has been a nuptials with rather lengthy festivities. One wonders how often the I do’s have to be said? It seems that once is not enough anymore. Elizabeth Hurley and her now husband Arun Nayar have pledged their troth three times in the past weeks. The pledges were spread over continents, performed in different traditions and were celebrated with umpteen changes of outfits, jewellery and attendants.

Does this overwhelming excess mean that they will not be divorced in the next few years? Maybe the divorce rate is so high because people only promise once to love each other till death do them part. On the other hand, perhaps its only celebrities that need to promise more often. That’s because they are so important. Important people need to do things more lavishly, otherwise they have no meaning. And Elizabeth Hurley and husband must be important if the magazine publisher Hello! is prepared to pay a reported amount of £2mill for the pictures of the wedding. That is really a bizarre amount of money to pay for wedding pictures.

Having started out their married life with such pomp and ceremony, one wonders what could be next. Anything else in their life surely will now fade into insignificance against this kind of over the top celebration. How does one cope with this let down? To a lesser degree, the ‘ordinary’ people have also elevated the whole wedding event to a height that was unheard of in past generations. Only royals were inclined to be lavish. It’s not uncommon for brides to spend thousands of Pounds or Dollars on a dress, which will only be worn once, flowers and decorations for a few hours, food, drink and entertainment that is lavished on guests who in many cases hardly know the wedding couple. Aunts and uncles come out of the woodwork for these events.

Whatever the reasons are for people to need to spend so much money on getting married, it regrettably does not make the relationships last longer. In fact it could be interesting to see whether couples married in a magistrate’s court with a few mates in attendance, and a celebratory glass of something in the pub across from the court, might have a better chance of doing the ’till death do us part’ thing. Anybody with some stats?

Choosing the Best Wedding Gown

It is important to have that perfect wedding gown, in order to have a perfect wedding. The wedding gown is the showpiece of every wedding event. The wedding gown is more than just a simple dress that is displayed by the bride. It is the considerable emblem of love, purity, and happiness that is awaiting the bride in her future with her groom. Preparing the wedding celebration is as important as finding the perfect wedding gown.

Here are pointers that could help people who may find choosing the perfect wedding gown difficult.

1. There are many resources available for choosing and designing your wedding gown.Embarassed

Wedding magazines were the best resources where the bride-to-be could get some great ideas for choosing her wedding gown. Now with the internet, she can browse for more concepts and ideas of wedding gowns online. Many web sites will provide you with full details on most wedding gowns. You can be provided with prices,a variety styles, and fashion sense.

2.You must conform strictly to a budget.Embarassed

Budget can not be absent in planning your wedding. Sticking to a budget is a common problem. Be sure to budget for your wedding gown. Do not be enticed with any special promotions offered by the person designing your gown. If you do not stick with your budget you will fall short on the other aspects of your wedding plans.

3. Every angle of your wedding gown should look great.Embarassed

The back of the wedding gown is the most neglected part. Make sure you look good from behind. When ordering your wedding gown you must look good from behind because often the guests will have a look at your back.

4. The design you choose must be practical.Embarassed

Large skirts and long gowns, although traditional, have become typical styles of the past. If the venue is small, wedding gowns like these are not at all practical, especially in today’s modern world. It can become stress and a real burden for the bride to carry a heavy dress throughout the wedding celebration. Having the bride comfortable in what she is wearing in whats most important.

5.Environmental condition of the venue of the wedding should be accounted for.Embarassed

Consider the weather and the venue when choosing a wedding gown. This will have a great effect on the kind of fabric that should be worn by the bride. If the wedding takes place during the summer, it is best to choose the fabric for the wedding gown that will not make the bride uncomfortable and perspire throughout her special event.

It is important to provide much time preparing, designing, and ordering the wedding gown. Deliberating on the details of the wedding gown can be a stressful task. When planned correctly there will be plenty of time for any changes and modifications without being rushed. It is very important for the bride to consider her comfort when choosing a wedding gown. if the bride is not comfortable wearing it,looks and designs will only be put to waste.

You are what you wear, as the old cliché goes. Wear a wedding gown that will reflect the love and happiness that is within the bride. The wedding gown will then appear before the audience as the most beautiful centerpiece of the wedding.

Pre-Wedding Jitters

Marriage is a very big step in one’s life. The decision to get married is a decision that’s likely to change your life forever. You’ll stop being single and, in the words of Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City, you’ll become one of the “smugly-married.” You’ll stop thinking for one and start thinking for two. After the priest proclaims you man and wife, your life will never be the same again. Thus, it’s only normal that you get those pre-wedding jitters.

Pre-Wedding Jitters Pre-wedding jitters, cold feet, last minute anxiety – you know all about them. You’ve been with the guy for several wonderful and blissful years. And though you’ve turned the idea over and over again in your head – like a burger patty that you want properly cooked – when it comes down to it, you can’t seem to take that first step down the aisle. You’ve always been sure that she’s the one girl for you yet you can’t get your lips to move and say “I do” because you know that she’s the one girl for you… and that’s the problem… one… the word keeps repeating in your head, over and over again.

One and only one – never again shall you have another girl. Never again because she’s the one and if you have another one, then you’ll have broken your vows and God’s thunder will strike you down. They’re Natural But you know that these jitters are inconsequential.

You’ve thought it over and you’re sure. You’re just nervous and your anxiety is getting the better of you. Don’t worry – that’s perfectly normal. Pre-wedding jitters isn’t some sort of sign that the two of you aren’t meant to be. It’s caused by all the stress you’ve been through in the months that you’ve planned your wedding. Couple that with the uncertainty of the future and you’ve got yourself pre-wedding bedlam. It’s not hopeless, however. You can do something to stop this malady.

The Cure for Cold Feet If you’re having the jitters while you’re looking at yourself in the mirror, don’t be afraid to talk with someone. It may be your mom or your best friend, it doesn’t matter. Don’t be afraid to divulge that you’re nervous and having second thoughts. Letting all your feelings out will clear your head.

Sometimes, you just need someone to remind you, somebody who will tell you, “Hey, this is the best day of your life, turn that frown upside down.” If you’re having the jitters while you’re walking down the aisle, count from one to ten and breathe deeply. This will help you regain your calm. If that still doesn’t work, try to recall the reasons why you agreed to marry him or why you chose her.

Remember all of your good times, even your bad times, remember all you’ve been through, and remind yourself why he or she’s the one for you. Remind yourself how wonderful he or she is and how much you love him/her and how much he or she loves you back. The one you’re marrying is the love of your life; don’t let a few jitters ruin your special day or the rest of your life. ************************************************************************************ Some Relaxing sites:
