Italian Wedding

There are many wedding themes you can pick to celebrate your marriage. Some people have married in cottages, others at homes, others at courts and some in vacation destinations. Your theme is a reflection of your style, personality and preferences. When both bride and groom come from the same ethnic group or are of the same nationality, you can have a traditional wedding.

This article looks at one of those traditional weddings - Italian ceremonies.

First, you must both be Italians to reap the full benefit and pleasure of this kind of wedding. You would understand the wedding better and enjoy it the more if you are of same nationalities as the customs and traditions would be already known to you.

Many Italian weddings take place in cottages. It has been argued that the best place in Italy to have such weddings is the Tuscany region. It is very scenic and typically Italian. In fact, Tuscany is Italy. The villas, mountainsides and vegetation are all Italian.

This country theme wedding is full of pleasure. It is very rustic and does not require sophisticated decorations. You dwell more on nature for your decoration.

You cannot serve typical western dishes here. You would have to go Italian in food as well. Good suggestions are antipasto salad, or panzanella and bruschetta. These can be garnished but essentially they must contain this recipe to make it truly Italian. For dessert, give gusets biscotti or cannoli.

You will need an Italian band. A DJ produced sound would not fit. Many Italian bands are well-versed in ceremonial music and will play music to suit the occasion. You may be amused at the fact that Italian wedding bands compose special music based on the couple and hosts. This music would praise the couple, their families and their achievements.

Seating of the Grandmothers?

QUESTION???? My fiance and I are planning a wedding for June of next year and we have a couple of questions. As far as the seating of the mothers, what music do you recommend? Also, for the seating of the grandmothers - we have four - so who should be seated first? My two grandmothers? My fiance? Should they be seated by age? Also, what music do you recommend for that? Should their corsages be all the same, or should they vary? We're having a 2:00pm ceremony and I want the mothers to wear long dresses. Should the grandmothers be in long dresses too? Which grandmother should choose her dress/color first?

**********ADVICE *********** First of all, there is no such thing as "seating of the mothers". Your fiance's mother should be seated second to last, your mother should be seated last; to whatever music you are planning for the prelude, unless, of course, she accompanies you up the aisle. The words "Seating of the mothers", by the way, do not appear in the wedding program, or anywhere else for that matter. The "seating of the grandmothers"? Well, that's quite a novel concept - and also a non-event. What next? The "seating of the first cousins"? There is no rule as to which grandmother is seated first - nor should there be any jockeying for position - unseemly for any guest - much less for grandmothers. The very idea that any group of persons be seated at a wedding according to age is just too heinous to contemplate. The grandparents should be seated like any other guest, usually in one of the front two pews, depending of the size of your family (so to speak) and the size of the pews.

If you choose to give the grandmothers corsages, they may be made up of any flower you wish. I don't recommend giving corsages to anyone but the mothers , but if you choose to have these ladies wear them, it would be charming to incorporate each grandmothers' favorite flower. If you're having a two o'clock ceremony the mothers may not correctly wear long dresses. It stands to reason, therefore, that the grandmothers do not wear long dresses either, nor are they compelled to choose any color over another. They may not wear black or white, that is all. I don't doubt that by the time ones' grandchildren are of marrying age, one has a pretty good idea of what colors one likes or dislikes. Grandparents should be given their proper respect, not by being paraded up the aisle, but by being vigilantly introduced to guests at the reception and included in conversations during the same. Keep in mind that guests are only interested in one person's trip up the aisle, and that's the bride.

Attempting to make a ceremony of anyone else's progress is tedious.

Bridal Sari

Shop Kaneesha.com for traditional saris! Great site for bridal sari!

A wedding is the most awaited time in every girl's life. Hours and hours of day dreaming and night dreaming is done by them thinking about all sorts of details about her wedding. The bridal sari is one of those most important things for which the girl thinks, dreams, plans and then shops like crazy. Finding the right bridal sari is every would-be bride's ultimate dream.

The bridal sari can make the bride look out of the world and make all the heads turn of all the spectators. A bridal sari can make all the others girls go green with envy and can stun the bride groom completely.

Bridal saris in Pakistan are mostly bright colored. This bright color gives out a sense of happiness and joy. The most preferred colors being green, red, maroon, magenta, pink, dark blue, orange and gold. The choice of the color depends on the bride. Brides can go for something dark like violet, to something universal like gold.

The work on the sari also depends on many factors. The first factor that is kept in mind is the budget. If money is not an issue the next point which is considered are the height and weight of the bride and the weight of the bridal sari.

Heavy bridal sari will have a lot of zari work and embroidery. Embroidery can be handmade embroidery or even ready made embroidery. A lot of stones can be stuck on the saris to make them brighter and give them that shiny look. The embroidery can be done heavily on the pallu and a little lesser on the insides. Bridal saris are generally heavy and so you will find most of the saris have embroidery all over the sari.

The latest generation saris are different in many ways. You can opt for a regular bridal sari or you can go for a longer saree to give you that flowy look. Saris are now available in 6 meters, 61/2 meters and even 9 yards.

The material for the bridal sari also depends on the individual's choice. You can go for the ever in style silk saris with a nice heavy borders. These saris have borders which are made from real gold threads too. If you feel that silk is too heavy or can't be worn as the climate is not favorable you can go for chiffons, georgettes etc.

Zardosi work or mirror work the type of work can be decided by the bride. You need not buy readymade saris only. There are many designers, boutiques, showrooms and sari websites where you can get custom made bridal saris made. The selection process for all this is done in a very systematic way.

First you must decide the type of material that you want. Then you have to finalize the color and when that is done you have to pick the design that you want to be embroidered on the sari. Pick a design which will suit your face and body structure. Ensure that you also stress the colors to be used for the embroidery. You can get similar embroidery done on your blouse too.

Wedding ~ Lipstick Tips for Your Big Day

StrawberryNET Cosmetics FREE SHIPPING!!

You would think that lipstick has been around forever, but I was surprised to discover that it was only on everyone's lips after 1915 when American Maurice Levy invented the metal slide tube for lipstick. By 1946 women in America were spending $30 million a year on red lipstick and girls around the world were following suit.

Lipstick gives every woman the feeling of being just a little bit glamorous even if it is only for a moment. The question is, how to keep it on your lips rather than have it come off, particularly on your wedding day when you will be required to 'pucker up' many times throughout the day.

The most important thing to remember, is that painting your lips is like painting the walls of your home, it is all in the preparation. If you put lipstick straight onto your lips it will usually smudge away after an hour or two (quicker if you are sipping champagne!).

To prepare your lips, apply a little foundation or concealer, or invest in a good base specifically for lips, supplied by many of the cosmetic companies.

Next, define your lips with lip liner. Try and use a natural looking colour, as it can be used just as easy with a gloss by itself or with pinky brown lipsticks and even reds.

Then apply your lipstick - a lip brush can give you a more professional look but is not necessary. Blot your lips and apply another layer of lipstick.

There are some companies that make 'kiss proof' lipstick, so when looking for a lipstick for your wedding day, you might invest in a 'transfer resistant' one, if you can find the colour to suit. But at the end of the day remember, that no matter how careful you apply your 'lippy' it will probably stay on when you go for the big kiss, but wouldn't survive the full snog!!

Wedding Reception Guest Tables

Set of Twelve Place Card Vases Set of Twelve Place Card Vases

Adding special touches to the guests' tables will contribute to the memories of your wedding reception. Their tables at the reception will be one of the outstanding images your guests will cherish and remember after your wedding day.

Your guests will remember the people they sat with and shared pleasure, gossip, and laughter; they will remember the table settings, the food, the linens, the chairs, and the centerpiece; and they will remember the photos taken while they sat at the table, listening to the toasts. These photos, too, will remind them for years to come what that table looked like in that fortunate day.

For success with the guest tables, do not hurry with the floor plan of the reception room. First, arrange the guest tables on a small scale on paper, taking into account the view from each table. Do not forget that each guest will need to witness the cutting of the cake, the first dance, and the head table for the bride and the groom.

The shape of the tables is important, also. Long tables may look impressive, but the round tables work best for guests for ease of conversation. In addition, an extra chair can always be added more easily to a round-shaped table, should you have extra guests at the last minute.

If your reception will be banquet style, then the reception tables look their best with floor-length table covers topped with lace or sheer smaller covers. If your wedding theme is classic and your color is white, bone, or muted, you can go white on white; otherwise, making the top cover in your chosen color will add cheerfulness to the celebration.

Since candles on the guest tables add a romantic look, should you wish to include them in or around the centerpiece, make sure they are enclosed in clear non-breakable glass casings to avoid fires if they are knocked down by mistake. For short cocktail receptions, votive candles will do just fine, but for dinner or luncheon, wide pillar or tall taper candles may be needed since they will last longer. To add to the sparkle of the candles, you may wish to arrange small mirrors around them.

The centerpiece of the table should reflect the theme of your wedding. For example, if it is a seaside theme, dolphin statuettes, shells, and other things found on the beach can make spectacular centerpieces. If the centerpiece will be a floral arrangement, make sure your florist understands that the centerpiece should not be too tall to block the view of the other side of the table, the head table, or the dance floor.

Then, have the wedding favors at hand when the tables are set. Making sure there are enough favors for all guests, place them on the table, one in front of each guest's chair. Each wedding favor should have the names of the bride and the groom, the date of the wedding, and maybe a welcome message to the guest. When choosing favors, try to make them pleasant and inoffensive for all age groups.

Your wedding should be as you wish it to be. Your guests' tables, too, should reflect what you love

Your Mardi Gras Themed Wedding Reception

Travelers Joy Honeymoon Registry

Whether your wedding is in February or not, you can have lots of fun with a Mardi Gras themed wedding.

Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday and signifies the time to eat heartily before the Lenten season. It has also evolved into a time to party, dance and listen to good music. Mardi Gras captures the imagination of a fun party atmosphere with plenty of food and having good time with friends. You can bring that same joy and energy to your wedding by doing some simple things or you can go all out.

Colored Mardi Gras beads and masks can be used to decorate your reception tables and other parts of your reception venue. You can also give the beads and sequined masks as favors to your guests as well as create interesting reception games based on them. A few carefully placed metallic ribbon curtains and large decorative masks can also be used to give that New Orleans French Quarter feel.

Consider a Cajun or Creole inspired menu. The food need not be spicy hot to get the theme across. Just ask your caterer to go easy on spicing or provide two versions of key dishes such as jambalaya and shrimp creole. While traditional recipes use pork products, you can also still prepare a seafood only jambalaya, a vegetarian gumbo or meatless red rice and beans.

If this is a mid-day picnic event, try fried (or baked) catfish sandwiches with sweet potato fries instead of burgers and regular french fries. If hard liquor will be served, offer bourbon based drinks instead of other selections. For non-alcoholic drinks, try café au lait or ice tea sweetened to taste with sugar syrup.

Music is big in the Big Easy so bring that to your wedding with a Dixieland band or at least a few key instrumentalists like a trumpeter and saxophonist. You can swing down the aisle to "When the Saints go Marching In" and dance at your reception to tunes like "Mardi Gras Mambo" and "Bourbon Street Parade"

You and your guests will have a great time. As they say in New Orleans, Laissez les bon temps roulez!

Bachlorette Party ~ Who Says Only the Bachelor Should Have One!!

Bachelorette parties have become a very popular addition to the wedding festivities. Brides nowadays don't see any reason why they should be left out of the fun while the grooms are enjoying their last night as bachelors. A bachelorette party is a time for the bride to spend some time with her friends doing the things she enjoys most. While the party is expected to be a truly wild event complete with male strippers, it is actually entirely up to the bride and her friends to decide what they want to do. It is completely okay to have a quieter bachelorette party perhaps with a professional pedicurist or masseuse instead.

The task of planning a bachelorette party usually falls to the closest friends of the bride. Traditionally, the party is planned as a surprise for the bride. However, nowadays it is understood that the bride has lots of obligations so it is perfectly normal to leave the surprise element out and get the bride also involved in some of the planning aspects. The person who plans the party is responsible for sending out the invites, but usually, everyone pays their own way and contributes a little bit more to cover for the bride. The basic rule is that the bride never pays for anything during the course of the party.

A bachelorette party can either consist of a night in town or of a weekend either at somebody's place or at a getaway somewhere away from town. Other options include a spa weekend or an adventure weekend like a ski trip. Depending on the kind of event planned, the guest list at a bachelorette party can range from just a few friends to a large group of people. Usually the guest list consists of close friends of the bride and any female relatives that she is very close to. If the party is not planned as a surprise, it makes a lot of sense to consult the bride on the guest list at her bachelorette party.

Typically, a bachelorette party starts off with a few fun games especially if it is being held at someone's house, not at a bar or a restaurant. Popular games include old favorites like "Truth or Dare" and "I never". Sometimes seemingly innocent games like "Pictionary" and "Charades" are also played - except that there is nothing innocent about the clues!

If the bachelorette party is being held out in public, there are other entertainment options most of which involve embarrassing the bride in some way! A suggestion is to have a scavenger hunt for the bride, where she is asked to collect various items such as condoms, toilet paper, etc. in return for her drinks.

When planning the event, keep in mind what the bride will enjoy. After all, the bachelorette party is all about her having a good time. If you are unsure about what exactly to have or whether or not to hire a male stripper, it's okay to ask the bride rather than risk doing something that she may not really enjoy. After all, it is her last time she can hang out with everyone before she gets married. Do something that she will treasure, cherish, and will remember for the rest of her life!   Embarassed

Getting Married in Costa Rica ~ Wedding Traditions

If you plan on getting married in Costa Rica you may want to incorporate some of the local wedding traditions to give the day a little bit of authenticity. Don't try getting an early night, once you are married and start the celebrations you may be surprised, if you are following Costa Rican wedding traditions. One customary point is to party late into the night.

To be completely authentic, the bride should wear a black silk wedding dress with a lace veil. The groom should wear a white shirt which has been hand embroidered by his future wife. Admittedly a black brides dress may not be everyone's idea of an appropriate wedding dress, and finding the time to embroider a shirt may not be an effective way to spend your time. You could opt for something traditional other than the clothing.

Spanish music would be a good start; this will give the right atmosphere especially for a beach wedding. Large food portions are also traditional; you will need a variety of Costa Rican and Spanish dishes, the larger the portions the greater the respect you are showing to the people who attend your wedding.

One of the Costa Rica wedding traditions which you may want to think twice about is, having every member of both families attending the wedding. Remember, you are getting married in Costa Rica, this is going to be rather expensive if you are picking up the bill for a hundred guests to fly out and stay in a hotel for a few days.

Another Costa Rica wedding custom, if you choose to follow Spanish tradition, is the exchange of thirteen gold coins in a bag, box or tray which are passed for the groom to the bride. The coins are carried by the bride and are then blessed by the priest. This custom represents the dowry symbolizing the groom's commitment to her and his pledge to support her. This Spanish tradition also has a religious meaning, it represents Jesus and the twelve apostles.

If you want a dream wedding, don't take second best. Marriage is not something which should be taken lightly, and neither is your wedding destination. God willing, this will be the first and last time you get married, so make it as special as you possibly can.

Wedding Cake Themes

Theme Obsession

People are nowadays so obsessed with the theme of marriage that they would go to any extent to reflect the theme. Wedding cake is one of those accessories through which the wedding couples convey that theme by selecting a cake befitting the occasion. If everything can be customized to convey the theme, the wedding day becomes especially memorable. The three most common types of cakes used in themed weddings are traditional, contemporary and alternative wedding cakes.

Traditional

In this type, the Victorian tradition of multi-layered cake with ivory icing is used to uphold the Victorian theme. The pillared design and the icing reflect the grandeur and elegance of that era. Instead of candy flower décor, these cakes would be designed with flowers and fruits.

Contemporary

These are less traditional and more adventurous in executing the theme. The Victorian theme gets replaced by Fairyland or Disneyland type of theme. The contemporary designs range from pillar, castle and moon-shaped to even wonky non-tiered cakes that have no stable structure.

Alternative

An out of this world cake not related to normal idea of a cake but more akin to experimental or fantastic designs. This type of cake would fit into experimental weddings like country, beach, princess or star weddings. The alternative category is whimsical and personalized. A pair of skis or a couple's dog may form the motif of the cake. For a couple who loves fishing, the entire wedding cake may be designed like a big fish. Hexagonal or octagonal shapes in place of the traditional square or round are another feature of contemporaries. The cake decorations may be so made as to replicate the lace and beading on the bride's gown. But even alternative style has not been able to dispense with a timeless and romantic natural decoration called flowers! Flowers have remained the most popular cake decoration.
